Important information :
the French Embassy in Port-Vila only delivers visa when France is the State of first entry in Schengen OR State of main stay. Please check your ticket before applying.
For Germany, the applicants must submit their file in the German Embassy in Wellington.
For example, the French Embassy in Port-Vila cannot issue visa for a fidjian national going to Poland or Portugal only

1/SHORT STAY VISA (less than 90 days) :

FIDJI - NAURU passports holders :

There is a visa waiver for Nauru passport holders for New-Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna (since 4/08/2016).

There is a visa waiver for Fidjian passport holders for New-Caledonia.

However, they have to apply for a short-stay visa to go to others overseas French territories, France or Schengen States (in that latter case, France must be first entry country in Europe or place of the main stay)

KIRIBATI - TONGA - TUVALU passport holders :

There is visa waiver for all French territories and Schengen States for less that 90 days (since 21/11/2015).

Please note that even with a visa waiver, the following supporting documents must be presented at the request of the Border Police upon your arrival in France

1/A valid passport issued less than 10 years before and valid for at least 3 months after the envisaged departure date ;
2/Proof of accommodation covering the whole duration of the stay (hotel reservation and/or certificate of staying with a relative validated in the town hall) ;
3/Sufficient financial means. The means of subsistence shall be assessed according to the duration and purpose of the stay and by reference to the average prices for accommodation and food in the Member States ;
4/Your return ticket or the financial means to acquire one at the envisaged return date ;
5/ Any document providing details on the profession or the capacity of the traveller as well as on the establishments or organisations located in France which are expecting you, if you are on a professional trip.

Deadline to issue visa : 5 working days is the minimum to issue visa for a complete file. It is however recommended to count on 8 days.
The French Embassy will generally accept visa applications three months before entry into France at the earliest.

Applications for Schengen Visas have to be submitted in person at the French Embassy. Fingerprints will be taken.
Children under the age of 12 and persons for whom the collection of fingerprints is physically impossible are exempt from the fingerprinting requirement.

For practical information, please note that the nearest hotels to the French Embassy in Port-Vila (opposite) are :
-  The Chantilly’s (high rates)
-  The Moorings (medium range)
A little further, less expensive :
-  Vila Hibiscus Motel
Anyway, Port-Vila is a small town, any hotel is situated within a reasonable distance (on foot or by bus).
