Supporting Fresh Wota women [fr]
Through its Micro-projects program, the French Embassy has funded sewing equipment to promote economic development to four women associations in Fresh Wota. This project has been set up by the president of the Women Association of Fresh Wota, Mrs. Grassiela Sawia, with the help and the assistance of the chief of Fresh Wota, Mr. Kalanga Sawia, who praised this project, mentioning it was the first one supported by France in favor of Fresh Wota community since independence.
A total of 20 sewing machines, 4 overlock machines, 20 pieces of calico, paints and threads have been handed over by the French Ambassador, Mr. Michel Djokovic, the director of Women’s Affairs department, Mrs. Dorosdey Kenneth, and the Fresh Wota councilor, Mrs. Cathy Hivo, to the four presidents of the Women Associations of Fresh Wota 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. During the ceremony, all the chairwomen expressed their deep gratitude, saying that this project will change their life. The French Ambassador emphasized the needs for the women of Fresh Wota to be united and to give regular reports to the Embassy, so that this successful project could be the first of a long list.
