UN Conference on Small Island Developing States
Ms Annick Girardin attended the 3rd conference on Small Island Developing States organized by the United Nations in Apia (Samoa) from 30 August to 3 September 2014.
As Small Island Developing States are on the frontline of climate disruption, the UN conference makes an important contribution to the post 2015 sustainable development agenda and to the preparation of the Paris Climate 2015 conference (COP 21).
Ms Girardin took this opportunity to reassert France’s concrete commitment towards the sustainable development of small island States, in particular through the cooperation actions led by the French Oversea Territories and by the Agence française de Développement (French Development Agency).
She also met with many participants to the conference and with representatives of the civil society. She also visited, together with all stakeholders, a French-led cooperation project in Sa’anapu (Upolu island) on tsunami risks prevention.
